About Kelly Sweda

That’s me on the left at about 12. I grew up in North County San Diego on the beach at the Oceanside Pier. I was a four-point-something GPA student, a tennis player and a swimmer. I learned my love of picture taking from my dad. That’s him on the right, could be shooting that very portrait of me.

An introvert and a true observer at heart, I take an editorial, documentary-style approach to photographing families — shooting those who are looking for a non-traditional approach to family photography. If you want a portrait with everyone looking to camera, be sure to say so. Otherwise, it might not happen. What you’ll get instead are candid snippets of time; beautiful, natural light; movement, touch and connection. If your images make you feel as much as they make you smile, I’ll have done my job well.
